Founder Inspiration - The Story Behind Anthāra

Chef Bala’s journey with Anthāra began with a simple yet powerful idea: to create a space where soulful food and thoughtful hospitality come together. After years of mastering technique and flavour, he envisioned a bakery that offered more than just pastries. Anthāra was born to fill a gap in Bangalore’s culinary scene; a place that pairs French artistry with American heart, where every bite sparks connection, comfort, and joy.

Anthāra began as a boutique bakery: small-batch, scratch-made, and rooted in craft. As word spread and the community grew, so did the vision. From freshly baked breads and pâtisserie, we expanded into an all-day café with handcrafted meals and comforting plates. In 2024, we introduced our taproom, bringing curated beer pairings and laid-back evenings to the mix. What started as a love letter to baking is now a full-bodied culinary experience — still artisanal, just more immersive.
